SAL: OWL & CACTUS Finish

I am thrilled to report I have a finish with my Owl and Cactus cross-stitch.

Happy Dance

At our last check in I was here

I decided not to backstitch around the flowers. Attempting it a few times, I just could not get a smooth soft curved feel. One to take things quite literally, including directions and not working outside the box, I threw caution to the wind and left the flowers alone. I think it looks ok. Now to have it blocked and framed and it will be ready for gift giving.

For those of you celebrating Thanksgiving I wanted to wish you a wonderful day next week filled with lots of love and laughter and for those of you who aren’t, my wish for you is the same  🙂 Ours will be a quiet day as all the children are scattered into the cosmos of life outside of Washington state with their children. We have decided on 2 cornish game hens in an orange marmalade glaze, wild rice and a favorite shredded carrot soufflé.

Please take a moment or two to stop by the others in this SAL. There’s a lot of great projects in works. And if you would like to join along ~ please contact Avis at the link below and she will be happy to give you the details. It’s easy and fun!

Hurrah for you! I love it as you have finished it, Sharon. Your Thanksgiving menu sounds delightful. Ours will be somewhat traditional, but quite pared down with just the two of us. 🙂

It’s beautiful. I think your decision was wise, and it looks great without. Happy Thanksgiving to you, even without children around.

Hi Connie – I am not sure what you meant by “change between my sites” but I did get this just fine. I hope you worked things out. Sharon

A big high five from me as well for your cactus and cute owl finish. I also love that menu you have planned for next week. Sounds yummy. Yes the children do scatter and I left home to move here to Ontario to be near my two girls. Meanwhile, have a lovely day!

Thank you. So now you have a new home and I think it’s lovely your near your two girls. I anticipate a move myself in the coming years to be by my youngest. Until then phones and internet will connect us and make the day lovely 🙂 Sharon

Hurrah for your happy dance! I think not backstitching the flowers gives them a softer edge. Happy Thanksgiving to you, too!

Very nice ! Backstitching can be tricky but I often find all it requires is a bit of pushing around with the needle tip. It looks great as is nonetheless

Thank you. I haven’t done a lot of cross stitch and it does seem a bit tricky to get it to look right. Thanks for the tip 🙂
