HQAL: Log Cabin Update

Three weeks can seem like an eternity when I am waiting for something special to happen. It doesn’t even have to be special, let’s say an appointment, like taking the dog to be groomed. But three weeks in terms of posting my quilting progress, always seems like just days since our last posting and this week is no exception.

Checking back I had completed 2 blocks and part of a third at our last posting. This posting I have completed four blocks. Below, a picture from last time.

With all the blocks the same there’s not much visual change, in fact none, so I won’t post any additional photos.

Below is what the back is beginning to look like

I won’t say working on this is boring, I’ll say monotonous and to add a bit of zip to this posting I wanted to show you another hand quilting project I have been alternating with this one. It is the Scap Dance Pachanga Mystery Quilt Along hosted by Carol ~ From My Carolina Home.

I thought it would be fun, and it was, joining this Quilt Along, however it just reinforced something I already knew about myself. I don’t do well reading directions ~ I must have the visual to make sense of directions. I did ok up until ‘some point’ and when it came time to begin putting all of it together, I realized I had missed a few beats here and there. With pattern pieces already completed I was not giving up. I had picked the table runner for the project and decided to continue and make a table runner.

I almost hate to say this, but I am thinking ahead and will be putting this aside for a Christmas gift.

Now I am off and looking forward to catching up with the others in this hand quilt along. You can join me by clicking on the links below.

This Hand Quilt Along is an opportunity for hand quilters and piecers to share and motivate one another. We post every three weeks, to show our progress and encourage one another.  If you have a hand quilting project and would like to join our group contact Kathy at the link below.

    Nice stitching 🧡
are you quilting as you go? I some of your pinned blocks laying on top of a blue background. I would love to hand quilt one day. Have only hand quilted one quilt sampler back in the early 90’s.

Hi and thank you πŸ™‚ not quite sure I understand the question but the project is complete and now I am quilting it. Then I will even out the backing edges, turn them over and form the border. No time like the present to try hand quilting again, go ahead and give it a try again πŸ™‚

Very smart to already be planning Christmas gifts! I am right with you on the monotonous part! Pechanga is a nice break from the log cabin, I bet working in both gets them finished faster!

Such lovely stitching! I’m so glad you finished that log cabin kit into a top and now a quilt. The table runner looks good to me!

lookin good Sharon! I am with you – give me a good visual and I will be off and running. The Designers tend to leave off the important little things that need attention when making their quilts. Have a great day and you can see I am a little late in commenting!
