SAL Update: New Project

At our last check in, I had finished my Skating Santa by Joy Sunday and delivered it to my friend.

I admit holiday happenings delayed my picking up my next in line project, also a Joy Sunday kit I had bought at the same time as Santa. I opened it up on Tuesday, determined to get started for this check in.

I loved the cute owls but I wasn’t thrilled
knowing I was going to have to change all the floss since I had discovered with the prior kit that their floss is not the best. (I also knew I would never buy another Joy Sunday kit.)

But imagine my surprise when I pulled out the directions.

I must have done 3 or 4 double takes, checked inside the packaging, were my eyes deceiving me? Had I ordered wrong? Yes it was Christmas Owls on the outside package and Halloween Owl directions inside – my next project was a no go.

I have purchased another kit by Dimensions and am waiting for it to arrive. I will have a grand reveal and start next year 🙂

Wishing you all a safe and healthy coming year filled with love and lots of laughter.

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all who celebrate!

About the SAL

Please note this SAL is not accepting any more new members until further notice but this is what it’s all about anyway. This SAL (Stitch Along) is slightly different to other SALs in that we don’t all stitch the same design at the same rate. We choose ONE unfinished project, or ONE new one, and show progress of its completion over a series of three weekly updates. There are no deadlines and no set amount to stitch. The result is that the space in our drawers full of WIPs (works in progress) is gradually being freed up to store lots of new crafty goodness. It’s surprising how much motivation I’ve gained from being in this SAL.

I missed your finish last time, skating Santa is lovely, very cheerful and merry. Have to admit I’ve rarely heard good reports about Joy Sunday, I think it’s pot luck whether you get a good kit like the Santa or not. Have a great Christmas, I’m sure you’ll find some other stitching to do 🙂

I love your skating Santa. What a shame your next project is not going to get started – but I hope you find something soon. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

Thank you 🙂 Avis made a comment – I can still do the Halloween Owls now – never even thought of that. It takes a village for sure sometimes!!!!

It really shook me up and threw me off balance. I hadn’t even thought that I could just do the Halloween owls instead. And yes – I will 🙂

So weird! And I thought the Christmas owl were so cute, but as Avis wrote, you can always stitch the Halloween owls for next season!

Thankfully Avis mentioned it ~ I would never have thought to do them as Halloween Owls – I was that shaken by the blunder

WHAT A BUMMER. I would call Amazon and ask for my money back. They are good to work with. I learned my lesson too on those patterns from China. I really like Everything Cross Stitch, or the 123 Stitch site. They have good patterns. I do not deal with Stitchery.com as they are a Chinese company and have problems. Do not trust them. Love that Santa though – you did a great job. Hugs

My problem was I hardly ever look at the source and just buy what I like. I learned my lesson on that. I will keep it and do the Halloween Owls after all

What a shame! The Christmas owls are so cute. Do you suppose you could get a chart from them because of their mistake? If you’re going to replace the threads anyway, the chart would be all you’d need, right? Your Santa turned out so wonderful!
