HQAL: Jane’s Quilt

It’s one day away from saying good bye to February and another chance to update you on the progress with Jane’s Quilt. At our last posting I had just started quilting her. I began in the center medallion.

Here is a little reminder of the pattern.

A bit of progress has been made.

Continuing to work on the middle, I branched out into the lighter pattern to get a feel for the thread color with it. I am using Essential from Connecting Threads 100% cotton in a deep maroon. This quilt is so large, heavy and bulky she is hard to work but progress is being made. I am a little over a third way done with the middle. I am not in a rush, dividing my time with three other smaller lap quilts.

To film the quilt I had draped Jane over the smaller couch to photograph. Turning from it to begin this posting and then sitting across from it I was surprised to see our mini schnauzer Skye, had jumped up on her.

Looking forward to March and the ushering in of spring. Now I’am off to check in with the others in the quilt along. Please join me 🙂

SAL: Snowman & Reindeer Update

Time for another Sunday up date on my Snowman & Reindeer. This is a kit from Dimensions ~ Gold Collection Petites. At our last posting I had outlined part of the squirrel to get a better look at him as he was taking shape, got a bit of the scarf in and details in his face.

Now after three weeks I feel like I am making some better progress. I can see his hat with a bit of the flora on it. I haven’t had as much time as I would like to work on him.

I also wanted to mention you may remember I was calling this Country Snowman and while I still like that title better, I decided to go back to the original name in case someone wanted to locate this kit 🙂

Now I am off to begin checking out what the others are working on. Won’t you please join me by clicking on the links below.

Our next updates will be posted on the 13th March 2022.

About the SAL

Please note this SAL is not accepting any more new members until further notice but this is what it’s all about anyway. This SAL (Stitch Along) is slightly different to other SALs in that we don’t all stitch the same design at the same rate. We choose ONE unfinished project, or ONE new one, and show progress of its completion over a series of three weekly updates. There are no deadlines and no set amount to stitch. The result is that the space in our drawers full of WIPs (works in progress) is gradually being freed up to store lots of new crafty goodness.

HQAL: Jane’s Quilt

February 2022 already and time for our next update. But before I get to that, I wanted to welcome Theresa to the HQAL. I am excited to get over to her page and meet her.

I have started my new project, Jane’s Quilt. This was a quilt top that was done by the mother of one of dearest friends. Sadly, both Jane and her daughter Jeanine have passed now. Janes granddaughter Raeleen sent the quilt top to me. I was so surprised and honored she had thought of me. Jane was an accomplished quilter, seamstress, crafter – an amazing woman. My memories of them both are overwhelming at times. I am so blessed to be working this piece.

At our last posting I shared the photo of the quilt and the backing I had pieced together with remnant fabric I had on hand. It looks a bit wonky. The blue seems more green in the picture but it is a truer blue and I think in the end it will work well for the backing.

The days just seem to rush past but I’ve managed to get a good start on this. I have a feeling this is going to be a year long project if not longer. I have started in the middle – the middle medallion. Here she is – I have moved the ring 1 time now

Kathy mentioned in our reminder we might want to share what else we are doing.

I have 3 other hand quilting projects I am dividing my time between. They are all smaller lap quilt projects. One is a baby quilt that I need for March, another due for gift giving in the summer months and the last for December.
