HQAL: Jane’s Quilt Update

Another three week check in with the days getting longer and warmer here in the northwest corner of the states. At our last posting I reported I had completed the medallion middle and was working consistently on the white/lighter shades of stripping.

There have been a few interruptions these past weeks. A visit from a daughter and SIL down from Alaska and then a tooth ache which turned into a needed extraction by an oral surgeon – ugh – despite, I managed to move the hoop 3x and continued to make progress on this massive beauty. I can’t even begin to think about when she could possibly be finished.

In addition, I am working on another hand quilting project. I showed you her back in our January posting. It is from the Hoffman Collection – Dream Big Holiday

I have been working this one off and on at my leisure. It will be a Christmas gift so I have some time to complete her. The quilting patterns are my free hand designs. This is where I am now – progress being made!

Below are the quilt along links and as always, I am excited to check in and see what everyone else is working on. Stay well and happy stitching 🙂

SAL: Snowman and Reindeer Update

Slow and steady as I continue to work on my Snowman and Reindeer cross-stitch. Slow and steady gets the job done but I am nowhere near completion yet. At our last posting 3 weeks ago I was here with my project

As I continue to work on it, I am working my way around from the bottom up and over to the reindeer.

You can see what I have gotten done and what’s still to be worked in the photos below. Comparing the photos like this you can see I had tweaked the hat and you may remember how I decided to remove the ribbon after a considerable mistake with counting. Looking at the pictures together, I can also see how I confused thread colors for the brim. I am smiling through that mistake though – it wont be noticeable and the hat still looks fine 🙂

One of my daughters, Fawn and SIL have been down from Fairbanks, Alaska for a visit which cut some of my stitching time down to – nothing – they left Alaska with a fresh 2 feet of snow falling to mostly rainy days here in Bellingham, WA. They are leaving today. There was thrift store and antique shopping, a day of scanning pictures from the family photo archives, a morning in La Conner, WA, a historic seaside town and a sun break gave us a chance to bar-b-q one afternoon and get in some relaxing and a drink in the back yard. Mostly we were just inside and carefree.

Fawn posted this on her instagram

As much as I loved and enjoyed our visit, it will be nice to get back into my routine. Now I am off to check in with the others in our SAL, won’t you please join me by clicking on the links below.

HQAL: Jane’s Quilt

Happy May Day posting and welcome to Tracy 🙂 In my last posting about Jane’s Quilt, I showed you these two pictures of the quilt. Basically I almost completed the medallion in the middle and had branched out into the white border around it.

I have gotten quite a bit done working the white border with almost half of it completed now. In the photo below you can see my progress better. The medallion is complete now. It would be amazing if I could complete the white border by next time. I am not putting any pressure on that as a goal as I have another hand quilting project in the works along with a cross stitch and crochet project as well.

I always look forward to HQAL posting and the chance to check in with the others on the progress of their chosen projects. Please join me 🙂
