HQAL: Jane’s Quilt Update

It’s HQAL update time for progress on my project. You may or may not remember that I missed the last check in because my daughter and grandchildren were here visiting after living in Okinawa for 5 years. In addition another daughter, granddaughter and great grandson were up from Oregon for a wonderful family reunion.

As for Jane’s Quilt I have gotten very little done in these past 6 weeks. This is my photo from last time. I am now working on the white blocks there on the left side corner with 9 logs finished.

I don’t usually share to much personal information on my blog but 6 weeks seems like quite some time for so little accomplished. My BH has very advanced COPD. Taking a bit of a downward turn he underwent a bronchoscopy to take a look the day before family arrived. He didn’t really bounce back and a few other things began to crop up, all that to say this past week he landed in the hospital. To both our surprise and his pulmonologist, he had internal bleeding and had lost quite a bit of blood requiring 8 units and a bunch of procedures to discover the source. There’s so much more I could say about what is going on for him but you get the point – its been a very hectic this past month with little time to think about the quilt. They (hospital) were unable to determine or find any significant bleed spot so we are still in the process of trying to find out where he is bleeding from. He is home now and will be swallowing a pill with a camera in it to take a look at his small intestines. There are lots of follow up appts.

Oh how I would have loved to have taken Jane’s Quilt to the hospital. Couldn’t you just imagine the amount I could have gotten done?

Now it’s off to check in with the others and catch up on all they have gotten done. Please join me 🙂 by clicking on the links below.

Oh my goodness Sharon! Praying that the doctors find the source of the bleed, and can get it stopped and your BH stabilized. What a difficult time for you!

So sorry to hear about the challenges you and your BH are facing right now. I will be thinking of the two of you until we “meet” again. Courage!

sending positive vibes to you and your BH. Sounds like you’ll be sitting and worrying in hospital waiting rooms a while longer – stick something crafty in your bag for when you go, and you’ll have something to keep hands busy and mind slightly engaged. My husband has regular check-ups and before Covid days, I used to go along and sit waiting & crocheti. Now, I let him go on his own because hospital staff don’t encourage extra people and it’s not very comfortable waiting in the car.

TY – I actually have him home now but with so many follow up appts I can hardly keep them straight. I most definitely will start a crochet project for this next part of the journey 🙂 our hospitals and Dr offices are allowing one visitor when the patient needs assistance ( he is in a wheelchair)

I am so very sorry to hear about the illness that your BH is dealing with. It is scary when that much blood has been lost and the source not easily found. I am sure that affected the reunion with your daughter and grandchildren. Yes, I am sure that pretty quilt would be finished by now if you could bring it with you through all the waiting. I am praying for you and your family. Hugs.

Thank you Cathie – He was not well for the visit but was very stoic and didn’t share how badly he was feeling. He is basically home bound and sedentary to begin with so I didn’t pick up on it till we were really in trouble.

Sharon what a time you have had! And hubby! So sad to hear that you are having a difficult time. I will say a prayer that things are found and that you are getting some rest and hubby is on the road to finding out the issue and that it can be fixed easily. Hugs and Love!

Prayers for your DH, and his doctors, and a good treatment plan forthcoming. That’s still a beautiful quilt, definitely, and if it progresses slowly, that’s okay, too. Congratulations on new baby to look forward to loving!

Thank you Susan for the prayers and thoughts. Things are beginning to resolve and move forward more positively. I do love this quilt, it has so much sentimental meaning for me. And we are getting pretty excited about baby to be 🙂
